Festive window displays created by shops and businesses in St George have been delighting customers and passers-by.

The best of the bunch, in the eyes of the judges for the St George's Window Display Contest, was Davison's of Bermuda.

A trophy and $350 was presented to Alice Richardson, of Davison's, as the overall winner of the month-long contest. She said: “I love Christmas and enjoy decorating and participating in the contest. I would urge all business owners to decorate as you never know how much it might brighten someone's day”.

The winner in the “most creative” category was Long Story Short. A plaque and $500 was awarded to Doreen Williams-James, of the shop.

The “people's choice” award went to Wong's Golden Dragon. Monet Wong collected the mayor's trophy and $200.

The contest was a collaboration between the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, St George's Rotary and the Corporation of St George.

Ray Lambert, BEDC officer, said: “BEDC is pleased to assist with this event. It's a fun way to reward those businesses who do a great job decorating their stores, which helps to enhance the overall atmosphere and shopping experience of the town”.

Andrew Roberts, St George's Rotary past president, said the Rotary had enjoyed judging the contest looked forward to supporting it again next year.

An added incentive was a raffle for all of the participants for a one-night stay at Grotto Bay Hotel sponsored by Grotto Bay. This prize went to Cathy Roberts of Bermuda Linens and Gifts.
