Teaming up to provide dinners for emergency staff
Premier Health and Wellness Centre and The Little Venice Group have teamed up to provide complimentary dinner to staff in the Bermuda Hospitals Board's emergency department during the Shelter in Place period.
The dinners have been provided every night since April 10 to the emergency department staff as their shifts switch.
“The shift work, the long hours, the long lines, and the fear that anyone that walks through their doors may be asymptomatic or symptomatic vectors put the emergency department at the greatest risk in our country. When we realised this at PHWC, we knew we had to help those whom we think would appreciate this and who deserve it,” Dr Stanley James, medical director at Premier Health and Wellness Centre, said.
Emilio Barbieri, on behalf of the Little Venice Group, said: “When Dr James reached out to us and asked us to be a part of this we could not say no and Danny Lim worked with Dr James to develop his vision and express our thanks to the hospital and its essential workers. My co-directors, Jacky di Meglio and Teresa Chatfield join me in applauding the emergency department's commitment and hard work in extraordinary circumstances”.
Dr Chikezie Dean Okereke, chief of emergency, said: “We are very grateful for this donation of healthy food to recognise the contribution of the emergency department team during the shelter in place and to support their wellbeing. It is a very kind and considerate gift and on behalf of the team I would like to thank Premier Health and Little Venice.”
