Stylish space: a virtual concept of a room, right, and the real-life end product

An architectural firm has launched a new digital tool that will give clients personalised visual concepts of a renovation project.OBMI Bermuda said the e-Magine Design menu-based programme would also help them to connect with clients remotely through the interactive platform.Colin Campbell, managing director and senior architect at OBMI, said: “Some people have difficulty in understanding drawings and plans, but this really brings the vision to life, in the long tradition of our firm.”The firm had existed for 84 years and had a culture of innovation, Mr Campbell said.Covid-19 was another challenge it was adapting to, he added. He said that many people had been homebound for a long period during the pandemic restrictions, which had given them an opportunity to consider potential home improvements. One of the advantages of the virtual design tool was the ability of the client to conduct the whole process from home, without a designer ever needing to visit the site, he added. Vanessa Bean, senior interior designer at OBMI, said e-Magine would help people visualise options for a particular space that could enable people to live more happily and healthily.Ms Bean said: “I asked myself at the start of lockdown: how does one feel about being at home 24 hours a day, for about 30 days?”The suitability of spaces for remote-working and home-schooling activities was something that many would have learnt about their homes, she added. Simple design changes could help to improve mental as well as physical health.Ms Bean added that e-Magine could help homeowners develop and visualise ideas such as creating a new home office, children’s play area, gourmet kitchen, or a tranquil garden. The programme is designed to appeal to the budget-conscious, Ms Bean said. The process starts when a prospective client sends an e-mail to emagine@obmi.com, listing the area to be renovated, basic dimensions of length, breadth and depth, and preferably a couple of photographs. After that, an OBMI designer arranges a complimentary consultation, which will involve a simple design questionnaire and a discussion about budget and scheduling. After the consultation, the client will select from the menu-based option that best suits their needs and budget. The three options are priced at $500, $950 and $1,500.• For more information on e-Magine Designs, visit bermuda.obmi.com/emagine, or e-mail emagine@obmi.com.
