Online marketplace adds up for Admuda

Online marketplace: Damien Furbert has set up a website and app where people can find stores and services doing business around Bermuda. The business is called Admuda

A Bermudian entrepreneur has launched an online marketplace and advertising space aimed at assisting local businesses grow through e-commerce, and helping customers locate goods and services they are seeking.Damien Furbert has been putting the finishing touches and tweaks to Admuda, a project he has visualised for a number of years.He said: “We want to help all Bermudian businesses no matter how big or small, grow their customers base, increase sales, and help grow the Bermudian economy in what is a difficult time for all due to Covid-19.”There is a website and a phone app where businesses can advertise and sell products through an online store.And there is no need for a business or service provider to have computer coding knowledge, as they can set up an online store on Admuda in a few minutes with a couple of clicks.Mr Furbert said: “The retailer goes onto our website and they create their online store with the click of a button.“They do not need any type of background on the internet or computer. They just fill in a form and their website is up in five minutes.“That’s a huge advantage, because these days a lot of companies pay thousands of dollars for a simple website and online store, and they could just do it with a click of the button.”Mr Furbert has a background in technology and business.In 2015, when he as 22, he founded the competitive video gaming business JoystickPlay, which later became Gamebouts.The idea behind Admuda has been something he has worked on for the past few years.He said that while he was involved in his video gaming enterprise he was also looking for another alternative to help Bermuda businesses grow in the internet commerce world, such as online stores.“I wanted to help Bermuda businesses and the Bermuda economy grow.“The best way to do that is to work with small businesses because that is what drives the economy,” he said.“Our mission is to help retailers grow in the internet world, so they can reach a more global environment, not just here in Bermuda, but around the world.”Customers are able to jump from store to store with the click of a button.Mr Furbert said: “Aside from the online stores, services such as spas, barber shops and maintenance specialist can also create an ad on Admuda.“Customers will be able to see their service and can contact them through the app.”As for the growing trend to buy online, he said: “I feel it will help the business. Everyone wants on-demand service, to easily shop online, and to have things delivered to them.” • The website is https://admuda.com/ and there is an Admuda app that can be downloaded to phones from the Google Play store.
