Course on how to think like an entrepreneur

First Prev 1 2 3 Next Last

The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation is to offer an eight-week course with the aim of teaching entrepreneurs how to establish goals and manage risks.

Think Like an Entrepreneur will be taught virtually via GoToMeeting on Tuesdays, beginning next week and continuing through March 23, from 6pm until 8pm.

The BEDC said the course, driven by the internationally-recognised, award-winning Ice House Entrepreneurship Programme, will provide a challenging learning experience for all budding entrepreneurs.

It is designed to reveal new opportunities, ignite ambition and foster the skills that will empower individuals to reach new heights as an entrepreneur. The BEDC said the curriculum for the course draws on eight fundamental concepts that can empower anyone to success.

Participants will learn how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, identify and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities, establish goals, manage risks, and build a successful brand. The eight-week scheme will aid in developing cross-discipline entrepreneurial attitudes, behaviours and skills.

The course teaches an innovative, international programme that was introduced to Bermuda in 2015.

It will be facilitated by Donte Hunt and Dennis Carter, two of BEDC’s micro, small and medium enterprise officers, who travelled abroad to receive training and to further develop the course for Bermuda.

Mr Hunt said: “We are excited to be guiding another group of aspiring entrepreneurs through the Ice House programme curriculum and look forward to seeing how the course inspires and empowers them to really think like entrepreneurs.

“We know from past cohorts that there are dozens of creative and unique business ideas floating around in people’s heads, and what this course does is help participants develop the mindset, skills and confidence to start working towards creating a tangible business.”

The customary cost of the course, $300, has been cut in half to $150. The fee includes all course materials, the book Who Owns the Ice House? and access to an online learning portal.
