Gosling’s prized Papa Seal Single Barrel Bermuda Rum 2021 will be available for purchase in Bermuda exclusively from Gosling’s Limited website as of Wednesday.

The company said that it will retail at $189 for a 750ml bottle.

Also offered is the Ultimate Rum Package: a bottle of Papa Seal Rum and a bottle of Goslings Family Reserve Old Rum for $250.

“Goslings Papa Seal is one of only a handful of single-barrel rums currently on the market,” said E Malcolm Gosling, seventh-generation rum maker and CEO of Gosling’s International Limited.

“What makes Papa Seal so unique is the sophisticated, elegant tasting experience it delivers. Sip it in the same way as a fine whiskey or cognac. The first release of Papa Seal was lauded as 2019 Rum of the Year by the Caribbean Journal, and we anticipate that this even more remarkable bottling will receive additional accolades from rum experts.”

A Gosling statement said that the “Father of all Rums” has a 2021 blending from pot and column-distilled rums ranging between 10 and 21 years aged in hand-selected, once-used bourbon barrels with medium char.

Each blend is married in American White Oak and aged for an additional two years in Bermuda’s humid, salty air, guaranteeing more balanced and intricate flavours. Each barrel is then filtered and bottled independently at 41.5 per cent alcohol by volume.

The statement added: “While the flavour will vary slightly from barrel to barrel, drinkers can expect a lavish yet mellow palate with hints of caramel, spice, vanilla and dried fruit, with a clean and well-balanced finish that lingers in the mouth. This prized rum is best enjoyed neat at room temperature or over a quality ice cube.”

Papa Seal was released in 2018 with an initial bottling of 12 barrels. Barrel No 1 was reserved for sale exclusively in Bermuda. To date Gosling’s has bottled 39 barrels of Papa Seal, with only small quantities shipped overseas.

Meanwhile, Gosling’s Limited and The Market Place Group are offering consumers a chance to win one of five bottles of Papa Seal Rum and a behind the scenes tasting tour of Gosling’s production facility in Hamilton.

The offer has been running since November 22 and ends on December 17.

With every purchase of a litre of Goslings Black Seal Rum from one of the Market Place stores, customers will be eligible for a chance to win one of five Papa Seal’s Golden Tickets.
