GEW panel discussion for men in business

The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation is to host a men-only event as part of its Global Entrepreneurship Week activities.

Next Man Up, a panel discussion, will be held on Thursday from 5.30pm until 8pm at The Cloud.

The event will be a space for men in entrepreneurship and men in business to come together, learn and grow as small business owners and CEOs, the BEDC said.

Topics will include work-life balance, reconnecting networks post-Covid, emerging opportunities and health and wellness.

Panellists include Marico Thomas, of Four-Star Pizza and BMSG; Winston Godwin, of Titan Tours; Nick Thomson, of Scooter Mart; Gilbert Darrell, of Horizon Communications; and Fitzgerald Williams, of MASC Bermuda.

Mr Thomas said: “It is important to share experiences which may bring benefit to others. You can pay to learn, read a book or learn from others, but there is no amount of money that you can pay that replaces experience. I have had many painful experiences that people should know to avoid.”

Ray Lambert, BEDC project lead of Next Man Up, said: “It is time for men to come together to support each other and improve.

“For the last six years, we have supported the Women in Entrepreneurship Day events that are focused on issues that women face, but rarely do we take the time to acknowledge that men also have challenges and need support and inspiration.

“The Next Man Up event is our opportunity to create a safe space for men to network and discuss issues that impact them directly. Our hope is that attendees will leave inspired and recharged.”
