Self-care is all-important during stressful times, the owner of Bermuda’s newest wellness and spa operation says.

Poinciana Wellness and Spa opened in July on the second floor of the Maxwell Roberts Building on Church Street in Hamilton.

The spa is run by veteran therapist, and now entrepreneur Vatcharavee “Vee” Jeerakulthanaphon.

“In these stressful times, taking care of one’s wellbeing is vital to get us through the week,” Ms Jeerakulthanaphon says.

“We help (our clients) to relax both body and mind and help them to keep going.

“My wish is that whoever visits my spa will leave reset, restored and rebalanced as a person in harmony with renewed inner strength to face life’s challenges.”

Ms Jeerakulthanaphon arrived on the island in January 2005 and spent more than 15 years working in the spa at Elbow Beach hotel before it closed in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Laid off, she launched a mobile massage service to visit former regular clients of the spa at Elbow.

But feeling that a dedicated space could offer more to contribute to a person’s overall well being, Ms Jeerakulthanaphon took the leap to establish her own spa, encouraged by the support she has always received on the island.

She set out to make it “a place to soothe the soul not just the body”, and created a space in her own style.

Ms Jeerakulthanaphon leads a team of three therapists – Puchaman Kankaew, Nittan Chiangman, and Kunlaya Anan.

They offer a full range of massages – therapeutic, deep tissue, Thai, aroma therapy and hot stone – as well as spa treatments, including body scrubs, specialised facial treatment, body waxing and rejuvenating foot and nail treatment.

The “Royal Poinciana”, which can last for up to two hours, is a treatment customised to a client’s needs, combining elements to create a personalised experience.

The therapists at Poinciana received their formal training at the Wat Po Traditional Medicine School in Bangkok, achieving Thai traditional massage certification with honours, Ms Jeerakulthanaphon said.

The team collectively has more than 60 years' experience offering a wide range of massage and therapeutic treatments.

Ms Jeerakulthanaphon said: “To fulfil the best service possible, I believe I have gathered three highly-skilled therapists who are fully trained to provide the highest quality treatment, infused with zeal to deliver a personal, dedicated service.

“They share my wish to make Poinciana Wellness and Spa a place to escape everyday life created and designed to provide an atmosphere of total wellness.”

The facility has two single treatment rooms, and one couples’ suite.

She said clients “love the place. They say when they open up the door, they feel relaxed already and it’s nice and clean, that’s one of the most important things.

“Our therapists are very kind in manner, which they say is very welcome and professional.”

Looking ahead to 2023, Ms Jeerakulthanaphon added: “I am wishing that the business grows and also that people know that this place is both therapeutic and relaxing at the same time.”
