Atlantic Gas has sold its fixed assets to Bermuda Gas. These assets include bulk LPG tanks, 100lb residential cylinder tubes and 17lb BBQ composite cylinders that are installed at various residential and commercial locations.

The acquisition of these assets will mean that existing homeowners and/or commercial enterprises (such as restaurants, hotels, etc) will not have to worry about who will be responsible for the care and maintenance (due to fair wear and tear) of these tanks/cylinders that are installed at their location, and they are relieved of the responsibility for disposal if required.

The company said that only the propane supplied by Bermuda Gas will be permitted to be placed in the tanks and cylinders.

As per standard operating procedures, Bermuda Gas will assess the propane vessels (tanks and cylinders) to ensure they meet industry standard codes for safety and protection.

The company said in a statement: “If the vessel installed at your location does meet code, then Bermuda Gas will provide propane. However, if the vessel does not meet code, Bermuda Gas will arrange for a replacement vessel.

Atlantic Gas’s 17lb BBQ composite cylinders, which are identifiable by their red, blue, or grey tops, will now be accepted into the cylinder exchange programme at Rubis Service Stations.

Ernest Marshall, customer service manager at Bermuda Gas, said: “Our infrastructure is set up in a way to ensure long-term security of both propane supply and propane distribution throughout the island. With the recent acquisition of the fixed assets of Atlantic Gas, we can commit to all propane users island-wide that they will have access to quality products and exceptional service.

“If you are either a new customer to Bermuda Gas or a returning one, to avoid any interruption of supply and service, we encourage you to contact Bermuda Gas at 295-3111”.

Anguel Anguelov, general manager of Bermuda Gas, added: “Propane’s advantage over similar electric-powered devices in Bermuda is the fact that it is more energy-efficient, cheaper and emits fewer greenhouse gases.

“Since 1957, Bermuda Gas has consistently provided the clean-energy fuel you needed to keep your homes and businesses running. Though we have a proven and strong track record for over 65 years, we will continue to strive to be the brand of choice for everyone.

“Our team are confident that we will continue to meet and exceed customer expectations in the future.”
