The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and Abacus will host an eight-week course called Financials 101 to help small and medium-sized business owners get better at handling their finances.

Lennox Cumberbatch, the director of Accounting Services at Abacus, said: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with BEDC to deliver a course that can transform the way business owners approach their finances. Understanding the numbers is essential for any successful business, and this course aims to make that easier than ever.”

The course will cover topics such as basic financial planning, how to read financial statements, and how to set the right prices for your products. It is designed for people who already have a business but need help with managing their money, understanding accounting, and using QuickBooks accounting software.

The course will start with an introduction and then move on to specific topics week by week, including learning about costs, cashflow, income statements, and balance sheets, as well as how to use QuickBooks for different tasks in your business.

People taking the course should already have QuickBooks Online Software, although help will be available in the class for those who need it.

The cost of the software is not included in the $395 fee for the course, which begins on September 14 and will be held every Thursday from 6pm at the BEDC
