The second annual Somerset EEZ Small Business Expo, presented by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, is to be held on Saturday at the Willowbank Resort in Sandys.

The free event is designed to be an opportunity to help existing and new entrepreneurs calibrate and prepare for 2024, the BEDC said.

It will run from 11am until 4pm and is open to all entrepreneurs, small-business owners and the wider public.

More than 20 businesses and organisations that provide support services to small businesses will be on hand.

The expo will also feature panel discussions focusing on four key topics for small businesses.

“Global Gateways” focuses on mastering shipping and logistics, “Culinary Commerce” will focus on the business of food from commercial kitchens to health requirements, “Financial Frontiers” focuses on modern payment solutions and financial technology to help small businesses, and “Digital Dialogues” focuses on how telecommunications can impact business growth and customer engagement.

The BEDC said the discussions will give attendees valuable insights and practical tips from seasoned business owners, experts and industry leaders.

“We are delighted to announce the return of our Small Business Expo for its second year,” said Ondreyah Rochester, the BEDC micro, small and medium enterprise officer and the officer responsible for the Somerset EEZ.

“Following the success and the connections forged at last year’s event, we’re excited to host this gathering again.

“Our goal is to help small-business owners navigate the complex landscape of running a business with over 20 vendors and our panel discussions, which will be a valuable resource for anyone looking to grow their business.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to network with other business owners and industry experts, exchange ideas and build valuable relationships, the BEDC said.

A professional photographer and make-up artist will be available on site to give entrepreneurs a fresh face for 2024.

Make-up and a head shot costs $120, and a head shot is $60. Photographs will be taken, edited and e-mailed after the event. Attendees must book a 30-minute time slot prior to the start of the event.

Ms Rochester added: “It is important to present yourself as a business owner professionally, so we wanted to include something fun that can be used to help build the entrepreneur’s professional profile.”
