One Business has become Brava, the new business-to-business arm of One Communications.

Powered behind the scenes by more than 100 international vendor partnerships, Brava provides business solutions and cybersecurity services tailored for Bermudian-based businesses ranging from the thriving insurance and reinsurance sector to the island’s retailers.

The company’s branded areas of expertise are Brava Connect (next-generation connectivity), Brava Stronghold (cybersecurity), Brava Cloud (cloud and infrastructure services) and Brava Synergy (unified collaboration and productivity).

One said Brava is committed to simplifying how companies do business by streamlining technology and delivering solutions that help to enable evolution and adaptability to all businesses, regardless of size.

Brava chief executive Conor McGowan Smyth revealed that One has spent $50 million over the past five years on fibre, infrastructure and the development of a 5G network.

He said: “Customers have a lot of choice in Bermuda. Brava provides enormous value, and what it also allows customers to do is to focus on their business without distraction.

“Brava takes away the headaches of IT, of cybersecurity, of the cloud.”

He added: “Brava is an evolution of what we did before. Brava brings world-class technology into the Bermuda market.”

Mr McGowan Smyth, based in Miami but a frequent business visitor to the island, said: “I was lucky enough to call Bermuda my home for nearly ten years.

“Bermuda offers the best of both worlds, providing a paradise to live in and the global centre of insurance, reinsurance, financial services and a thriving local business community. I am so excited to launch Brava here.

“Brava represents a totally new and modern approach to connectivity, ICT [information and communications technology] and cybersecurity solutions.

“We are bringing cutting edge international solutions designed specifically for Bermuda customers, delivered in Bermuda by our on-island team of experts.

“Since Covid, we have seen a real uptick in work from home, remote working as well as e-commerce in the retail space in the Bermuda economy.”

Mr McGowan Smyth said the company worked behind the scenes, seeking feedback from customers and listening to them.

He added: “We have spent a huge amount of time simplifying the buying process.

“Brava is customer-centric. We have designed our packages, our add-ons and our solutions in the way that customers want to consume them rather than how we want to sell them.”

Niall Sheehy, CEO of One Communications, said: “Becoming Brava represents a significant milestone for us. It allows us to incorporate global expertise into our offerings, enriching the services we provide to our customers.

“At our core, we remain the same team you know and trust, but with expanded capabilities and more opportunities to assist businesses with enhancing their efficiency and growth.”

Gary Phillips, chairman of One Communications, added: “I am excited to announce the launch of Brava, our B2B venture. This marks a significant leap forward into innovation, collaboration and growth within the business landscape.

“The evolution from One Business to Brava paves the way for cultivating partnerships that will redefine the telecommunications and technology experience in Bermuda's business sector.”

Brava is part of a regional information and communications technology service provider in multiple territories in the Caribbean.

It launched in Guyana in February, in the Cayman Islands last month, and will launch in the US Virgin Islands in May, followed by two “further larger markets in the second half of the year”, Mr McGowan Smyth said.
