Video game design challenge on this month
Bermuda Island Games is continuing to fulfil the dreams of those interested in designing video games.
Participants in an annual design competition will compete in the third edition of the event later this month.
The Video Game Design Challenge comes on the heels of the eSports Summer Camp 2024 held from June to August.
Bermuda Island Games last year won second place in two different categories for Bermuda TechAwards 2023. The new game Hidden Gems of Bermuda 2, won for the Mobile App of the Year.
Bermuda Island Games also won second for the Youth Programme of the Year, which included the various courses and events put on during the year.
In this latest opportunity, game designers will hone their skills to grab an award for the best graphic design at a two-day weekend event, which starts on October 18 at Suite Solutions at New Venture House, Mill Creek Road, Pembroke.
Organisers Bermuda Island Games and dCyfa Communications said each year, game designers worked their skills around a “secret theme” which was not known ahead of time.
Adrian Lodge, founder of the event said: “We are pleased to see the game development community growing locally and want to ensure that we continue to bring people together with events such as this.
“Our special guest this year is Moira Kelly who is a senior animator and has experience in various forms of graphic design including concept art, 2D, 3D, rigging, video and more.”
Mr Lodge said training courses and internship at Bermuda Island Games would be provided to people who wish to pursue video game design as a career.
“Last year, we started the first campaign specialising in video game basics, graphic design and programming, using technologies such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, Roblox, Unity and C#,” he added.
