New eatery opens in St George’s

Ready for service: bartender Cowan Ramirez at Drift

A new eatery has opened in the St George’s Club Hotel.

Drift GastroBar is part of the Achilles Bay group, under the management of Stefania Di Meglio and Guido Brambilla.

As part of its soft launch, Drift will be open Tuesday to Sunday, serving Neapolitan pizza from 4pm to 9pm and drinks from 4pm until.

Drift will then be open for lunch and dinner with sharing plates and pub fare. Guests can enjoy cold pints, crisp wines, and cocktails along with mocktails, soft drinks and coffees.

Drift has numerous flatscreen TVs to enjoy the World Cup and other sports events and there are plans to hold a weekly quiz night and live music. Drift will also be available for catering and private events.

Diallo Rabain attended the restaurant’s ribbon cutting ceremony last week in his capacity as Acting Minister of Tourism and Transport, Culture and Sport.

Among other attendees were Miguel and Laura Purroy of Hotelco, owners of the St George’s Club and the St Regis Bermuda Resort, and Stefania Di Meglio and Guido Brambilla.

Teresa Chatfield, director of Little Venice Group, said the gastrobar’s opening was “bringing a vision to life”.

“We believe St George’s deserves an authentic and distinctive experience with great drinks, innovative cuisine and good company allowing the unique spirit of this remarkable town to come together.

“We strongly feel that St George’s deserves experiences that are genuine and businesses that protect the town’s heritage while contributing to its future.”

Miguel Purroy said: “We are continuing with our revival of the East End and are proud of the tradition of this hotel and are committed to the renewal of the St George’s Club Hotel.

“We did Achilles restaurant with Stefania and Guido two years ago and now we have Drift … this is all part of the long-term commitment to make St George’s a destination of locals and visitors and we are very grateful for the Government’s continued help.”

Drift GastroBar is located at 6 Rose Hill, St George’s.
