“The aim is to upskill the local community and broaden access to international networks,” Mr Glass said. “It’s not a pitching competition.

“Entrepreneurs typically make a lot of mistakes in their fundraising journeys, which impinge on their ability to even start the right journey. We want to help them understand how to avoid those common mistakes and improve their chances.”

The daylong programme will include discussions on improving investment pitches, building angel investor and family office networks, and fundraising opportunities for black entrepreneurs, women and people aged over 55.

Other sessions will cover artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, insurtech, agriculture, hospitality and tourism, as well as family businesses. A mini fundraising myth-busting workshop will address common misconceptions about raising capital.

Founded in 2021, Qodeo uses qualitative data and algorithms to match entrepreneurs with potential investors. The company has staged similar events in Edinburgh, Durham, North Carolina, and the House of Lords in London.

The Bermuda summit, planned to coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week, is backed by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and entrepreneurial incubator Ignite.
