Bermuda College Foundation and Martello Re Ltd have partnered to launch two scholarships aimed at students pursuing careers in actuarial science and technology.

The Martello Re Bermuda Scholarships will provide one year of tuition and book support for students enrolled in Bermuda College’s Associate in Science degree programme, focusing on either actuarial science or computer information systems. The scholarships are valued at about $14,000 in total.

The foundation also announced the first recipient, Armari Maybury, a second-year computer information systems student expected to complete his studies during the 2026-27 academic year.

Kerry Judd, executive director of Bermuda College Foundation, said the scholarships would help prepare Bermudians for technical careers tied to the island’s changing workforce needs.

“We are proud to partner with Martello Re Ltd to create a meaningful pathway for Bermudian students pursuing studies in actuarial science and computer information systems at Bermuda College, critical fields to the continued growth and resilience of our economy,” Ms Judd said.

Kimberly Aldridge, chair of community and charity at Martello Re, said the company viewed investing in local education as both “a responsibility and a privilege”.

“Education is a cornerstone of our community and charity mandate and investing in future talent on the island is both a responsibility and a privilege,” Ms Aldridge said.

Applications for the second scholarship are open until June 30 through the Bermuda Scholarships website. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, demonstrate financial need and be pursuing studies in actuarial science or computer information systems.
