Schoolboy Smith still leading the way

Jonah Smith, Moses Johnson, Kenneth Mathie, Kai-Jun Simons and Jahdae Trott were the biggest winners during the last round of Correia Construction Championship motocross racing at Southside.Berkeley Institute School student Smith continued his superb early season form after sweeping top honours in all three heats in the B Class.Mathie also recorded a hat-trick of wins in the C Class while Johnson, Simons and Trott swept top honours in the 50cc, 65cc and 85cc Classes respectively.Picking up two wins on the day was the evergreen Otis Ingham (Over 30 division), Keegan Jones (Pee Wee) and Zamair Darrell (Super Mini).After two rounds of racing, Smith, who has finished no lower than third so far this season, leads the B Class points standings while Mathie and Darrell currently top their respective divisions.Johnson is the current leader in the 50cc Class while Simons, Ingham and Trott are perched atop the 65cc, Over 30 and 85cc points standings respectively.Motocross racing resumes at Southside on May 13 and will feature a special race for Mothers as part of Bermuda Motocross Club’s (BMC) Mother’s Day festivities.“We are basically going to have the mothers try and negotiate the course that their children compete on,” explained BMC president Jonathan Trott. “They will be doing three laps with the winner to receive prize money.”
