DeSilva comes out on top

On your marks: Kymaree Pitt claimed the first win in the season opener in the Minibike class, which involved eight riders, at Southside Rubis Raceway at the weekend. The meet was postponed from May 20 because of safety reasons

The Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club kicked off their opening race of the season at the Rubis Southside Raceway at the weekend.

Eight youth racers battled it out in the Minibike class throughout the day’s three heats.

Kymaree Pitt welcomed the first win for the season when his tyre reached the finish line just a fraction of a second before competitor Norre Robinson.

Aeziah Divine and Jediah Cumbermack enjoyed wins in heats two and three when they both secured visible leads over their competitors. Running alongside the Minibikes was Jeremiah Samuels in the Formula Open class, who created a substantial gap ahead of the group in the first heat.

Samuels is the first youth racer to make it to the Formula Open class this season.

In the Scooter 70 class, Kenneth DeSilva came out on top, winning two of the three heats. He also stole the overall top finish for the entire scooter class in the first two heats.

Ricky Wade took the final first in the Scooter 70 class, where newcomer Blair Jones secured a strong second.

Edward Cook made a clean sweep of the Scooter 4T class where he won all three heats. Jason Pacheco followed close behind with new racer, Dandre Outerbridge, making his season debut.
