Rough-N-Ready Racing will be gunning for multiple titles in the Funny Car Fever event at Redding Motorpsorts Park in Redding, California, this weekend.

The Bermudian-owned amateur drag racing team will face off against rival Jason Vanderpool in the rescheduled March Meet 7.0 pro final while also attempting to defend their Funny Car Fever title as they continue their pursuit of a first win in the 2024 California Independent Funny Car Association championship.

“This is just not another race, this is an all-or-nothing race this upcoming weekend,” team spokesperson Jacqueline Williams told The Royal Gazette. “We are racing for our initial first win with CIFCA but also wrapping up the 2024 7.0 pro March Meet finals.

“Our expectations of this race is be right on the money. Even though it’s just one round for the March Meet title it’s going to be challenging. Our competitors run 7.0 pro religiously and always run on the money, but for us we know that we have to be on our A game.

“No matter what the outcome might be, we know we will give it our all and congratulate them for winning if that is the case. It’s all about good sportsmanship at the end of the day.”

Rough-N-Ready Racing have already enjoyed success in the Funny Car Fever with driver Tony Trimp behind the wheel of their 1965 Mustang GT funny car.

“We have ran Funny Car Fever in the past at Sacramento Raceway and we have won that event multiple times throughout the years,” Williams added. “At this point running the event at Redding Motorsport Park will make a difference. Different tracks equals different strategies and results.

“We have always had great success even if we didn’t win the event. One thing that is misunderstood about our team is that we see success in everything we do. We can only learn from our mistakes or the car’s mistakes.

“Winning isn’t everything, but gaining knowledge is more rewarding.”

Rough-N-Ready Racing are making their second appearance at Redding Motorsports Park of the season after making the semi-finals in the season-opening Kool April Nites Drags at the venue earlier this month.

Harvey Williams Jr’s team has enjoyed considerable success over the years, winning three CIFCA titles as well as the National Hot Rod Association-sanctioned California Hot Rod Reunion and Good Vibrations Motorsports March Meet at the Famosa Dragstrip in Bakersfield, California.
