Somerset School of Dance changing location

Magnolia House on Front Street. Somerset School of Dance is moving to the building’s second floor.

Somerset School of Dance is relocating.

The dance school merged with In Motion School of Dance in April 2020 and continued operating as a collection of “dance studios” under In Motion.

In an e-mail sent to parents last Friday, the studio announced its departure from the Furbert Building on St John's Road to the second floor of Magnolia House on Front Street.

The move is effective from today.

The new location will be known as In Motion Second Position Studios, with In Motion’s original 71 Reid Street location now being referred to as the In Motion First Position Studios.

“In Motion Second Position is easy to reach in the heart of Hamilton directly across from our Reid Street Location. It features spacious dance studios and improved amenities, without any haze from the nearby power plant,” said Lizz Pimentel, the founder and director of In Motion.

“With the new space, we will be able to introduce additional dance classes, camps, fitness classes, workshops and masterclasses.”

The new site has larger studios, accessible from both Front Street or Reid Street, and the school hopes the move will allow it to consolidate operations and achieve greater synergy between the locations.
