Championship League games a bit of a bore
I don't know if it's just me but the opening week of Champions League was a bit dull with Manchester United's clash with Benfica the only one was even remotely fascinating.
I have certainly seen much better games in this prestigious competition. Most of the team's went out to play for draws and what we saw were a lot of stalemates.
The Barcelona, AC Milan match ended in a draw and it was probably a fair result as neither wanted to lose and once AC got the first goal you could see that they were content on setting up shop and getting ten players behind the ball.
Now that they have a point out of that match they should fancy their chances getting out of the group. They showed that they have the experience to do the job and they deserved a share of the spoils.
Arsenal got a good result with their draw against Borussia Dortmund, especially in a hostile environment and it showed that they are coming along nicely from their early season slump.
Couple that with a good win over Swansea at the weekend and they seem to be back on track which will please their fans.
It is funny how the game is because you never know how things can suddenly change until they do.
Real Madrid put on a typical top class performance. It's hard to go to Russia and get a result so they deserve a lot of credit.
When you play at home you have to take advantage and in most of this week's games the host team didn't really take the game to their opponents, which to me was mind boggling.
Manchester City got their first point in the Champions League with a draw at home against Napoli but they were lucky to not lose considering the second half was dominated by the visitors.
City have enough quality in their ranks to get things under control and make inroads into this competition.
Last weekend also had its fair share of dull games. Watching United you have to say to yourself, when will they get to play the big boys because I turned off the game at 3-0 and looked for some other things to do.
They are a strong team, their players know what to do and they are getting results from it. They look the most organised and hardest team at the moment but a lot of the other clubs still have some kinks to sort out.
Chelsea have to go to Old Trafford this weekend and if they want to win the league they will need to go to places like this and get results. I think that this will be an interesting match to watch.
Chelsea have to make a statement or run the risk of United running away with the title, which could happen if they lose.
West Ham travel to Milwall where it will be hostile to say the least. Some people really don't know how intense this game is.
It would be nice to a result. There's s a big rivalry as they come from opposite sides of the river and they truly don't like each other.
There's been a lot of fighting and crowd trouble with this one so hopefully we can get the win for our fans and keep it relatively safe out there.
We have proven that we can win on the road with the result against Nottingham Forest, now we just need to continue the winning way and look to beat our long time nemesis.
