Here follows a rundown, since I like the cut o’ your gibs: • My hair looks mental most of the time anyway but PALS are asking us to have crazy hair for a good cause on Friday, September 27 for their 2nd Annual PALS Mad Hair Day. PALS ask that you round up your friends, family and co-workers to donate $5 to wear their hair in a mad or crazy way for the day. Suggestions include wigs, funny hats and scarves, or even just your own hair in a funky style. This award-winning film deals with the topic of African American single women who have never been married and don’t have any children entering into their latter stages of life, how they are dealing with this and thoughts from Christian Leaders, writers and psychologists. The screening will be at 7pm at Charities House on Point Finger Road, Paget, and will be followed by a discussion. Tickets are $20 and can be reserved by calling 295-3882 or • Discovery Wines invite you over to their newly renovated warehouse for an End of Summer BBQ from 7pm on Saturday, September 28. As you would expect from a Discovery Wines event, the focus will not just be on the fresh-from-the-grill BBQ favourites, as they will also have five fine wines for you to taste. The cost is $85 per person. To reserve your spot, contact 296-9463. • Bermuda DNUG, the local .NET User Group invite you to join their fundraising Quiz Night at the Robin Hood on Wednesday, October 9. This is not just for tech geeks as categories include General Knowledge, Entertainment, Geography and Science and Nature. There is a variety of prizes available, and you can just show up on the night, so there is no need to reserve your team spot. The cost is $10 per person and proceeds go towards bringing speakers to Bermuda to help keep our local geeks up-to-date. For more details, contact • International comedians Sister Cantaloupe, Henry Sapp and Anna Douglas will all be appearing in Lord Make Me Laugh on Saturday, October 12. This family-friendly comedy show will be at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts, hosted by Taneika Eve. Doors open at 6pm with showtime at 7pm and costs $55 for regular admission, $65 for VIPs (includes preferred seating and photographs with the comedians), and $25 for children under 15. Hosted by Denny “Shakespeare” Richardson, this event will start at 6pm, featuring the comedic talents of Charles Jeffers, John Dale and Stuart Hollis. Well now you can officially prove it by entering the Inaugural Bermuda Long Drive Championship at Riddell’s Bay Golf & Country Club on Saturday, October 26. Not only is there the opportunity to win $1,000 in prize money, this is also your chance to be named the King of the Long Drive in Bermuda and earn bragging rights for the golfing season ahead.
