World Thinking Day is celebrated on February 22nd each year and is a special day for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world. To celebrate, there will be a special Girlguiding Thinking Day Service and Parade in Bermuda on Sunday, February 16th. The Girl Guide units will parade along Church Street from City Hall to the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity at approximately 2.30pm for the service. After the service, at around 4pm, they will parade to the Flag Pole on Front Street for the lowering of the Guide World Flag and the playing of Taps. The February edition of the Bermuda Docs Weekend Film Series will be on Sunday, February 16th in the usual location of the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI. ‘Music for Mandela’ will be showing at 3pm, followed by ‘More Than Honey’, a documentary tackling the vexing issue of why bees worldwide are dying off, at 5.15pm. Bermuda High School are hosting a craft market featuring some of Bermuda’s most talented local artists on Saturday, February 22nd. The BHS Craft Market and Table Sale will run from 10am until 2pm in the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Extra parking will be available in the car park on Woodbourne Road. Proceeds will help fund the cost of materials needed to help provide a clean water supply for a remote village in Om Goi in the Thai province of Chiang Mai. You are invited to grab your best walking shoes and your favourite canine for the Bermuda SPCA’s 17th Annual Paws to the Park Dog Charity Walk on Sunday, March 2nd. This sponsored one- or three-mile walk will start at St Paul’s Church Field, on the corner of Middle Road and Valley Road at 2pm. After the walk, there will be a bake sale and an SPCA table. The registration fee is $35 and the first 75 people will receive a goodie bag. Dogs are not mandatory so non-owners can still participate. All money raised goes directly towards the shelter’s operating budget in supporting the community’s unwanted or neglected animals. All of Bermuda are invited to join the fun on Sunday, May 18th in St George’s to show off their best floral decorated bicycles and floral decorated hats while they stroll through the town to see the lovely gardens.
