Time for a new energy

Spring is in the air! I throw open the curtains and windows to let in the warm sunlight.

I close my eyes, smile and breathe the fresh air filled with blooming flowers.

There is something very exceptional and hopeful for me about springtime.

This new season brings fresh change, positive transformation and new life.

Colours are brighter and aromas intoxicating; the days are longer with late sunshine; the island flourishes in all its exuberant colours.

My favourite, the longtails, are migrating back home and their pure white spirals cross the brilliant blue of sky and sea.

I turn back and look at our house. I believe that a house is a mirror image of ourselves. I meditate; “This spring is a new beginning for me.

“It is the perfect time to bring creative energy here. My home will display the new me, living and enjoying every day and building a beautiful and happy future.”

One of the feng shui principles is: Before anything new comes in one should make space by discarding something old.

I want to free our space for the arrival of new opportunities and ideas.

When our homes are too cluttered and our souls are too preoccupied with worries and fears, we don’t have the space to receive something valuable.

It is time to consciously throw out everything that no longer gives me joy.

These are thoughts that tie me to the past like a strong rope, and pull me back.

Memories that remind me of negative circumstances, or people that have hurt me long ago. I am ready to move on and get rid of superfluous people, events and things.

What about clothes and items that are associated with something unpleasant?

The Zulu tribe from South Africa has a powerful ritual where they burn the clothes that they were wearing when they were in trouble.

They want to get rid of the emotional imprint associated with them.

Over the years we collect so many broken things, thinking, “I’ll fix it later”.

Usually, “later” never happens and we clutter our space with unnecessary items.

The presence of debris keeps us in the past.

If I feel very attached to some old items, and it is hard to get rid of them, I do it as a ritual farewell. I say to it, “Thank you, you served me well. I was glad that I had you in my life but it is time for me to move on.”

Some people have beautiful dishes that are locked in cabinets for years!

They use them only for a special occasions. Is not every day of our lives special? Why don’t we celebrate the fact that we are alive and well? Why not bring beauty and harmony into our daily life? I want to have only things that I really need and that will reflect my happiness. By clearing my space, I want to give a signal to the universe about my readiness to change and take in a life of abundance and joy.

Let our homes and our souls be ready to receive the new life-giving energy of positive changes and the perennial beauty of spring.
