Customer service you just can’t beat

They say that the world is small and you never know who is connected/related to whom. This is extremely true.

Last week we had an inflatable mattress with a leak. We took it to Island Construction Services, in Devonshire, to get it repaired.

Jayden Pond, a great ambassador for good client relationships

We met a young man by the name of Kevin, who was extremely professional and courteous. He then inflated the mattress, identified the puncture and then proceeded to look for a solution. After closer inspection, he realised the material of the mattress could not be repaired with traditional tyre patches.

In his words: “I can put a patch on, but it won’t hold and that wouldn’t be fair to you.”

He then took time to recommend Anslie’s Interior Decor, also in Devonshire, as a company that could fix it.

Kevin is truly about customer service.

Upon arrival at Anslie’s Interior Decor, a young lady, Jayden Pond, went above and beyond to assist. She listened to what the situation was, then took us to the technician so that he could have a look at the mattress. He explained that it could indeed be repaired.

Ms Pond then took our contact information. A day later, she followed up with e-mails stating that the item was repaired and ready for pick-up. Once again, upon arrival, Ms Pond greeted us extremely cheerfully and then went downstairs to bring us the item.

Just before we left, she stated: “If there are any problems, please don't hesitate to bring it back and we will correct it free of charge.”

The mattress was indeed repaired professionally for an extremely reasonable price; much cheaper than buying a new one.

We wish to thank Ms Pond for her excellent customer service.

A few days later, I received a Facebook message. It reads as follows:

“Hey Chris, the young lady, Ms Pond, that you wrote about is my niece. She is actually the granddaughter of my father who happens to be your cousin, Eugene Trott, aka Jim Totty!!”

Afterwards, a few family pictures were sent, including one with Jayden with her dad and my cousin Leslie Trott, of the Charles/Webb clan of Devonshire.

Thanks once again to both Kevin and Jayden for exemplifying that Bermudian customer service is truly alive and well.
