East Broadway suicide-bid drama

A distraught woman lies on a narrow ledge more than 60 feet above the parking lot between the East Broadway Service Station and Hamma Galleries on East Broadway, in Pembroke yesterday. The morning rush hour drama saw the distraught 24-year-old end up on the ledge for nearly an hour as Police Chief Inspector Anthony Mouchette, a trained negotiator, tried to communicate with her. Ch. Insp. Mouchette grabbed the woman - after she made a sudden move - from a Fire Service "cherry picker" crane. Once on the ground, the woman was covered with sheets, strapped to a gurney and taken away by ambulance. In accordance with the law, her name has not been released to the public.
