Post haste, by George
THE Bermuda Post Office delivers 19 out of every 20 letters posted inside its four-day delivery time target ? but that leaves plenty of room for improvement, according to Postmaster General George Outerbridge.
Mr. Outerbridge revealed that testing of delivery time had revealed that 94 per cent of mail reached its destination inside four working days after being posted.
"We are pleased with this because it suggests to us that the process of mail delivery through our postmen and Post Office Boxes are working well," Mr. Outerbridge said.
"However, a 94 per cent delivery rate means that six per cent of our letters are not meeting the standard.
"This six per cent of mail that is still not being delivered within the four-day standard is still too high and we acknowledge that it is unacceptable."
Mr. Outerbridge was giving an update on the modernisation plan that he said had already produced significant improvements.
He added that the public could help to raise standards further by making sure that all mail was correctly addressed.
