GLADYS Madeiros, a long-time volunteer with Meals on Wheels, was yesterday presented with a Community Service Award from Bermuda CableVision. Mrs. Madeiros was chosen because of her “tireless service”, having devoted close to 18 years to the charity.

In 2003, Mrs. Madeiros was appointed Volunteer Co-ordinator with Meals on Wheels, a position that entails keeping an up-to-date roster of all volunteers and assigning them to specific jobs within the organisation.

It falls to her on any given day to ensure that Meals on Wheels has the necessary volunteer staff to deliver more than two hundred meals, four times a week, to the elderly and homebound.Insight — see page 5
