Afternoon tea ma?am?
Eloise, a character in a best-selling children?s book, lives in the Plaza Hotel in New York year round and regularly takes afternoon tea.
Now the Fairmont Hamilton Princess is cashing in on the Eloise fever following the release of the movie by the same name that stars Julie Andrews as the push-over nanny of the pampered rich kid.
And the luxury hotel is trying to attract the well-heeled young ladies of Bermuda to its doors ? by offering them the Eloise treatment.
If little girls turn up with mum for afternoon tea, the hotel will provide hats and pearls for them to wear while they sip tea, nibble on sandwiches with no crusts on and wolf down cakes.
Peter Finnegan, director of food and beverage at the hotel, said he thinks the idea will be a hit.
?Mothers will get afternoon tea for half price if they bring in a group of girls for afternoon tea,? he said. ?The girls look lovely in the hats and pearls and have a great time being treated like a little princess while they are here.?
The move is part of a new campaign by the Fairmont Hamilton Princess to keep on attracting locals through its doors, especially in the quiet seasons.
