Bermudian duo promoted to top financial posts
XL Capital has announced the promotion of two Bermudians to top financial posts within subsidiary XL Financial Assurance Ltd.
In a Press statement yesterday, the company announced that XLFA - the company's financial products and services segment - had named Sean Symons and Roderick Romeo Jr. as chief financial officer and controller, respectively.
XL's CFO Jerry de St. Paer said: "I am pleased to announce the promotions of two of our leading professionals at XLFA. Sean has played a key role in the company, designing accounting and reporting processes at XLFA while handling segment accounting responsibilities.
"Roddy has solid insurance and treasury experience and was instrumental in positioning the accounting controls and reporting for both XLFA and our Bermuda-based weather and energy companies."
Mr. Symons, who has been with XL Capital for five years, was previously controller and deputy chief financial officer at XLFA.
He joined the company from PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was an insurance audit manager. Mr. Symons holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Acadia University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Mr. Romeo, who was previously assistant controller, joined XLFA two years ago from the Bermuda treasury department of XL.
He previously worked for the Bermuda Monetary Authority and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He attended St. Mary's University in Halifax, Canada, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
