The Bank of Butterfield yesterday announced that Mariano Browne is to be appointed managing director of The Mutual Bank of the Caribbean Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Butterfield.

"We are fortunate to be able to appoint a banker of such proven ability and broad experience to head up our Barbados subsidiary. We look forward to working with Mr. Browne as he continues to build on the strengths of The Mutual Bank," said Graham Brooks, executive vice president, international & trust and chairman of the board of directors of The Mutual Bank of the Caribbean Inc., who is responsible for overseas operations of Bank of Butterfield.

Clenell Goodman, the outgoing general manager and chief executive officer, is leaving the bank to pursue "other business interests", the company said in a release.

Mr. Brooks acknowledged his hard work and contribution to The Mutual Bank and wished him well in his future endeavours.
