The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index gained 50.16 points to close yesterday at 4,694.53.

On an active day of trading, Belco led the advances gaining $1 to close at $41 as investors traded in 8,400 shares.

Butterfield Bank rose 95 cents to close at $61 on volume of 335 shares and Bermuda Press Holdings rose 25 cents to close at $14.50 on volume of 5,000 shares.

Bermuda Commercial Bank fell 70 cents to close at $8.25 as 1,300 shares changed hands.

Meanwhile BF&M traded in 6,800 shares to close unchanged at $15 and KeyTech traded in 27,500 shares to close unchanged at $15.50.

The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $973,860.40 and the overall volume of shares was 49,335.
