Bush campaign man to speak at Island forum
The National Political Director for the Bush-Cheney 2004 US election campaign will be jetting to Bermuda shortly after the November vote to speak on what can be expected from the next elected American administration ? whoever wins.
Terry Nelson, head of the Republican re-election effort, will be the speaker at a forum hosted by the Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA) on November 22 at the Hamilton Princess.
BIBA CEO Deborah Middleton said Mr. Nelson would be ?giving insight on what can be expected from that administration?.
Mr. Nelson is a founding partner of the Republican consulting firm Dawson, McCarthy Nelson Media, and has long been involved in political campaigns.
On the web he lists his short-term goal as being ?to expand the (Republican) majority in the House, take back the Senate and a 50-state sweep for President Bush in 2004?.
Although a political consultant and analyst, Mr. Nelson says it is important to keep ones head in politics.
?Don?t get caught up in political games. Hard work and talent are all you need to be successful. Keep your eye on the ball ? which is winning elections ? and be dedicated to a message strategy that works.?
