The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index gained five points yesterday to close at 4,939.73 as shares worth almost $3 million traded.

Butterfield Bank gained 25 cents to close at $56.50 as investors traded in 50,800 shares.

The only other trading activity on the Exchange saw KeyTech fall 35 cents to close at $15.90 on volume of 5,989 shares.

The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $2,965,404.35 and the overall volume of shares was 56,789.

The Bermuda Insurance Index closed down 0.63 percent at 1,175.18 with most publicly traded Bermuda-based insurance stocks slipping.
