Riverbed?s flagship product. Steelhead Appliances, is designed to address the issues associated with the management and costs of running a Wide Area Network (WAN).

?Our customers are continually looking at ways to reduce their IT-related overheads and with Riverbed Steelhead appliances they can now address the issue of performance and cost in conjunction with the operation their WANs,? ACT general manager David Bart said.

He said customers who integrate the Steelhead appliance on their network will experience significant performance increase in TCP traffic on your WAN, including web applications, FTP, Exchange, web content (both static and dynamic), and Lotus Notes, amongst other applications.

yesterday announced its accreditation to provide field services for EMC, the world?s leading enterprise storage specialist, to customers in Bermuda.

Bermuda Microsystems, capitalising on Dell?s existing partnership with EMC, has been working closely with EMC on a number of strategic business initiatives across Bermuda.

?The announcement is further evidence of Bermuda Microsystems Group?s continuing expansion in the area of Enterprise IT service provision,? Philip Cooper, president of Bermuda Microsystems, said.

?We are extremely pleased to provide field-services for EMC, the global leader in enterprise storage. Our field service operation is probably the largest on the island, and it?s strong and continuing to grow in precisely the direction we want.

Mr. Cooper said EMC is the latest in business partner allied to Bermuda Microsystems. Others include Dell, Microsoft, Altiris, Symantec and Sun Microsystems.

The accreditation specifically relates to EMC?s Centera and Clariion Disk Library product offerings. Both products have build specifications that meet with the most rigorous regulatory compliance requirements ? a key focus for large financial enterprises domiciled here.

The staff benevolent fund of recently donated $3,000 to the Bermuda Mental Health Foundation.Sharon Smith and Tim Berry, chairman of the Mental Health Foundation, received the donation.

?This donation helps us to deliver on our commitment to provide activities that develop public awareness, acceptance and integration of the mentally ill into the community,? Mr. Berry said.

Ms Smith, Treasurer of the Foundation added: ?We are in the process of purchasing a third home that will house four individuals, enabling them to live and work in the community and enjoy a better quality of life.?
