Allied World Assurance Company Ltd. (AWAC) has appointed Gerald W. Browning (pictured) as vice president responsible for the Casualty Facultative Reinsurance Department. Mr. Browning's role will be to manage the production and underwriting of casualty facultative business including individual risk and facultative programme business.

Allied World Assurance Company Ltd. (AWAC) has appointed Gerald W. Browning (pictured) as vice president responsible for the Casualty Facultative Reinsurance Department. Mr. Browning's role will be to manage the production and underwriting of casualty facultative business including individual risk and facultative programme business.

Previously, Mr. Browning was vice president and manager of the corporate risk options department of The Hartford, underwriting finite risk.

He has over 20 years' experience in a variety of management and senior roles within the insurance and reinsurance industry representing: Highlands Insurance Company, Houston; Alexander and Alexander; RFC Intermediaries, Inc; Sedgwick Re in Atlanta, Dallas and Hartford. Gerald received his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University.

AWAC also announced the appointment of Sylvan D. Richards Jr. to the position of assistant vice president, general liability where his role will be to evaluate the insurance needs of his clients and find creative ways to manage their risk profile.

Prior to joining AWAC, Mr. Richards Jr. was a casualty underwriter in the excess casualty department at ACE Bermuda Insurance Company Ltd. and prior to that, he worked as an assistant casualty broker at Marsh & McLennan (Bermuda) Ltd. Mr. Richards, who is Bermudian, began his insurance career in 1978 as a trainee claims adjuster with Southampton Insurance Company in Bermuda.

He also gained experience as a casualty claims adjuster for Amalgamated Casualty Insurance Company in Washington D.C.

He also holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in insurance education from Howard University in Washington D.C.

Bermuda Bodyworks announced that Paula Griger has joined as an instructor.

Ms Griger is a Guild certified Pilates instructor from New York City and has, reportedly, worked extensively with Pilates legend Romana Kryzanowska.

Bermuda Bodyworks said Ms Griger brought to the studio “a wealth of experience”.
