Have the shutters come down on Rooms For You?
Furniture shop Rooms For You may have shut up shop for good, leaving at least one deposit-paying customer concerned they may be left out of pocket.
The irate customer, who asked not to be named, yesterday told The Royal Gazette that there may also be other customers left high and dry after the shop apparently went out of business without notifying customers waiting for goods.
The woman said she placed an order in July which she secured with a deposit of several thousand dollars.
She added that she spoke yesterday with a staff member who said that no orders had been placed since July and that other angry clients were looking for their goods or money.
The customer spoke to The Royal Gazette after failing to contact the owners of Rooms For You - Jennifer Dwinnell and husband Robert Dwinnell. She said repeated calls to the couple over several weeks were not returned.
She added that she did not now expect to receive her furniture shipment or the money she had put down on deposit.
"It is a loss, that's obvious," the disgruntled customer said.
A visit by The Royal Gazette to the Rooms For You Mill Creek showroom found the property closed up. A neighbouring business proprietor confirmed that the furniture retailer had been shut for some time.
Ms Dwinnell was off the Island yesterday and could not be contacted.
But her father, David Lines, said that he believed the shop had shut its doors.
"I understand that it is," Mr. Lines said when asked if the store had closed down but added: "You'll have to speak to her."
