KeyTech takes stake in WestTel Ltd.
KeyTech Ltd., the parent company of BTC and Logic, announced it is a minority shareholder in a new telecommunications company in the Cayman Islands called WestTel Ltd.
WestTel is licensed in the Cayman Islands to provide local and long-distance telephony, internet and value added data services to both the corporate and residential markets.
KeyTech?s partner in this new venture is WestStar TV Ltd., Cayman?s premier cable and television operator. WestStar currently has a market penetration of more than 80 percent with its television and cable services and WestTel will use WestStar?s fixed wireless distribution network for the delivery of data and telephony products.
WestTel is currently delivering internet services and it is anticipated that other voice and data services will be launched early this summer.
In 2003 the Cayman Islands migrated from a Cable and Wireless monopoly to one oriented toward competition in all markets. WestTel will be one of the first competitors to Cable and Wireless.
