Mambo's got the funky stuff
The Island's latest designer store, Mambo, on Reid Street, opened its doors yesterday and curious customers packed into the small space to have a peek at the new trendy gear.
Owner Yvonne Cacace, who runs Stefanel and various other stores in Hamilton, said that in Italy it is bad luck to open on a Tuesday or a Friday ? so her fifth store opened at the end of yesterday for just an hour.
"I am delighted we have opened," said Mrs. Cacace and when asked why she opened at the end of a Monday and not Tuesday, she said: "Tuesday and Friday are not good ? it is an Italian thing, so we just go with it."
Within 20 minutes of opening they had over a dozen customers through the doors looking at the designer clothes which range in price from $40 to nearly $800.
The store, which used to house the Michael Swan Gallery at the entrance to the Walker Arcade, is managed by Gary Price and will be getting small shipments of goods in every month to renew its stock of high-end trendy clothes.
