Scott to go to health insurance meeting
Premier Alex Scott will be at a health care risk management conference in Florida today and tomorrow, saying his attendance recognises the importance of international business in Bermuda even as the Government puts new focus on social issues.
A Government press statement said the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) draws its membership from health care, insurance and related professions and promoted effective risk management techniques in the sector.
?Premier Scott said he believed it was important, even as the Government?s primary focus shifts to the ?social agenda?, that it continues to recognise the leadership role international business plays in ensuring the strong economic base from which the social agenda will evolve,? the statement said.
It added that it was important for Government to show its support for the growing importance of health insurance as a sector of the Bermuda insurance industry.
Mr. Scott announced earlier this year that Government would be launching a ten-year Social Agenda but has not yet detailed what it will consist of. It is expected that the Throne Speech on October 29 will expand on it.
