American to keep JFK's winter service

daily winter service. And it has also cleared the way for boosting the number of European passengers to the Island.

Last year the airline suspended all flights for 20 days between January 10-20.

Company spokeswoman Ms Carole DeCouto said yesterday: "It will be better this year, with a flight every day. No suspensions this time.'' Ms DeCouto said the winter schedules had not been totally finalised.

The seasonal Raleigh flights, however, will cease for around four months from the beginning of December.

But she pledged the 7 a.m. Bermuda-New York service would operate every day.

From December 2, the timing of the 4.10 p.m. JFK-Bermuda flight will be changed. It will leave New York at 6.30 p.m., arriving here at 9.40 p.m.

Ms DeCouto explained the rescheduling would improve European flight connections. "It will help those who miss the 4.10 p.m. flight,'' she said.

Ms DeCouto also underlined another benefit for American passengers -- the new 757 planes. "They are more fuel efficient, and are much less noisy then the previous planes,'' she said.
