Big bank stocks improve

Bank of Butterfield gained 75 cents to close at $12.25 on volume of 6,681 and Bank of Bermuda gained 12.5 cents to close at $18 on volume of 1,580.

The biggest loser was Telco which closed down $1.75 at $35.25 on volume of 3,701. The utility closed down 75 cents at $37 a week earlier.

Bermuda Commercial Bank lost 25 cents to close at $5.50 on volume of 1,155.

Bank of Bermuda warrants dropped 12.5 cents to close at $3 on volume of 570 while Staples preferred dropped 12.5 cents to close at $9.125 on volume of 400.

Bermuda Aviation Services closed down 12.5 at $2.125 on volume of 23,380.

Bermuda Container Line dropped 12.5 cents to close at $4.50 on volume of 100.

Bank of Bermuda 9% sub. cap. nts. 2001 closed down 1.125 cents at 102 on volume of 319,000 units with a value of $325,380.

Hemisphere preferred gained 25 cents to close at $6.25 on volume of 13,945 while BF&M preferred gained 37.5 cents at $10 on volume of 500.

Issues closing unchanged were; Belco, $20, 10 and BF&M, $6.50, 13,945.

Share volume was 53,522 with a share value of $405,715.63.

Mezzanine's NAV gained three cents to $10.12.
