Bird talk tomorrow
William R.P. Bourne will be giving a special talk to the Bermuda Audubon Society tomorrow.
One of the world's leading ornithologists, Dr. Bourne was one of the many children "shipped'' out of Britain to the colonies to escape the German blitz in the Second World War.
Years later, a paper which Dr. Bourne wrote on the birds of Bermuda was accepted by the prestigious British ornithological journal, IBIS. This paper had extraordinary significance as it described the status of the the Island's bird population just before a blight tragically wiped out Bermuda's cedar forests -- an event that would change the character of the Island for ever.
Dr. Bourne's reminiscences on Bermuda will take place at Horticultural Hall tomorrow at 7.30 p.m.
