*** Mr. Rodman Woolridge , director of travel industry sales for Marriott's Castle Harbour Resort, was recently awarded the hotel chain's New York region sales award. Mr. Woolridge, who has held that job for the past two and a half years, was presented with the Marriott's special achievement award for his work on behalf of the property.
Frequency of travel industry solicitation, productivity and visibility in the travel industry community were all considered in selecting Mr. Woolridge.
*** The Princess Hotel in Pembroke has been awarded a Gold Key Award for its first-class meeting facilities for the second consecutive year.
The award is given annually by Meetings & Conventions Magazine to the top 100 meeting properties worldwide. Winners are selected by the magazine's 80,500 subscribers, who are corporate, incentive and association planners.
In choosing winners, voters consider meeting staff, meeting rooms, guest services, food and beverage service, reservations handling, technical support equipment and recreational facilities.
Out of a total of 100 winners, just 25 are international properties. The remaining 75 are domestic US properties.
Princess general manager Mr. Peter Komposch was given the award by magazine publisher Mr. Peter Huestis.
*** Mr. Carl Shechtman , a piano technician for Riihiluoma's, recently returned from a training seminar at Steinway & Sons Piano Factory in Long Island, New York.
Mr. Shechtman was one of just four technicians invited to the take part in the five-day seminar, which focussed on the company's traditional techniques on solid equal temperament tuning, building power in the Steinway piano hammer and precision voicing.
