company's seven employees at its Victoria St. office have been made redundant.

Richard Blackwood, treasurer of Cigna International in Philadelphia, said Cigna's four insurance companies would remain registered in Bermuda. The staff on the Island performed administrative functions which the company decided would now be done from Philadelphia.

Cigna has had an office in Bermuda for about 20 years, at one time staffed with up to 80 people. The number has slowly declined over the years, Mr.

Blackwood said.

Of the seven staff here, one is an expatriate. Three Bermudians have already found jobs. Chief executive officer and president John Boden, 70, is retiring and will do some consulting work. Mr. Boden has been with Cigna for about ten years.

Mr. Blackwood said Cigna sent employees from the US in July to advise the redundant staff on how to find jobs. Cigna provides group life and health insurance, financial services and property and casualty insurance worldwide.
