And Jack Harris, the support group's chairman, said the local charter is desperately in need of a major sponsor.

Canada, the US, Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands and Antigua -- all members of Prison Fellowship International -- have already promised to attend the Regional Conference from October 26 to 30.

During the week-long meeting, the World President of Prison Fellowship International, Ron Nikkel, will address issues of excellence and unity in prison ministry.

And workshops will look at methods of alternative justice, "restoration as opposed to rehabilitation'', and investigate whether or not incarceration reduces crime.

Local representatives from the judiciary, prisons, the Treatment Offenders' Board, the Probation department, Social Services, Police, the National Drug Commission, and interested persons from churches or prison ministries will also be invited.

For further information call Mr. Harris on 295-2070 ext. 322.
