Cultural officer named
Affairs Officer -- with a brief to promote and protect Bermudian culture and heritage.
Ms Wilson, a 42-year-old teacher, will take over the job on August 1 when she will replace Ruth Thomas.
According to Government Ms Wilson "will be required to create programmes to develop and foster a broad-based cultural programme which embraces those, customs, traditions, habits, the way of life, beliefs and values which aim to protect the Bermudian culture and maintain an awareness and respect for Bermuda's heritage''.
She will also be required to develop and conduct research and educational programmes and to prepare and manage her department's annual budget.
Ms Wilson was educated at Mount Allison University, the University of Western Ontario, Queen's University and Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio.
Ms Wilson, of Hamilton Parish, has been a teacher at the Berkeley Institute since 1978.
