The American Airlines late flight out of New York on Saturday was cancelled because of "technical problems'' at Kennedy Airport. This meant the early morning flight from the Civil Air Terminal was called off.

A Civil Aviation spokesman said he was not sure whether the flight was cancelled because of the weather or technical difficulties.

But he confirmed that some flights had been delayed over the weekend because of conditions in New York. Ploughing had to take place at Kennedy and La Guarida airports before flights were allowed out.

US VISITOR FINED CTS Visitor fined An American tourist was fined $800 in Magistrates' Court on Friday after pleading guilty to possessing 13.4 grams cannabis.

Michael Sciotto was searched at the Civil Air Terminal on December 7, after arriving on a flight with his brother from New Jersey.

The search revealed 14 homemade cigarettes contained in a plastic bag concealed in his underwear.

Sciotto admitted the offence and said the drugs were for his personal use.

INCINERATOR HIT CRM Incinerator hit Thieves broke into a makeshift changing room at the Tynes Bay Incinerator on Thursday night.

They stole a wallet and several waist pouches containing a total of about $2,400. Credit cards and passports were also taken.

Police say the room was being used by builders to change their clothes.
