From nails to needles

Ms Maxine Dixon, owner of the Perfect Ten Nail Salon added the expertise of tailor Mr. Keith Gordon.

"We are focussing on fast business, same day service,'' said Ms Dixon.

The business opened the tailoring component Monday and will adopt a new name, the Perfect Ten Nail Salon & Tailoring Establishment.

"I was looking for something to complement the nails service,'' she said.

"We are looking to offer something different for people who want one of a kind items for proms or Cup Match, for example,'' she said.

Customers currently are required to bring in their own materials for custom work but Ms Dixon is considering bringing in materials for customers to chose from.

Some materials, like interfacing and linings, are carried by the new business.

Jamaican-born Mr. Gordon has worked as a tailor for the past ten years, two in Bermuda.

"I like the challenge of difficult projects. I can cut free hand and do not need a pattern,'' he said.

Customers could bring in a photo of something they have seen and request Mr.

Gordon tailor a similar product.

Perfect nails has been located in the Bermuda Industrial Union building at 49 Union Street for about three years.

The nail salon will continue to offer a full range of nail care services from manicures to pedicures and nail art.
