Get ready for Harbour Nights!
around Hamilton or St. George's, eating good food, and listening to the sounds of Island culture.
Now in its third year, the Bermuda Harbour Nights programme, which is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, is set to begin on May 3 in Hamilton and May 9 in St. George's.
And the opening night in Hamilton is "Carnival Night'' which will feature gombeys, African dancers, the local band Paradise and fireworks, all of which is sponsored by the Bank of Bermuda.
The Harbour Nights opening in St. George's which is "Bermuda Night'' will consist of the Tropical Breeze Steel Band and the Bermuda Gombeys sponsored by the Bank of Butterfield.
Executive vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce Ms Carolyn Mello said: "Each year, we work to improve and upgrade this important season long event.
This year we have designed new display stalls and have colourful banners that will decorate the lampposts of the City of Hamilton and King's Square in St.
George's.
"To help market the event, we have developed a new `invitation-style' information pamphlet that lists all retail stores participating in the event.'' Ms Mello added that the new flyers will be distributed to hotels, guest houses, cruise ships and to all visitors service bureaus Island-wide.
"Bermuda Harbour Nights will also be advertised weekly in The Royal Gazette as well as on the Bermuda Channel and the Key to Attraction pamphlet.
"We are working hard to ensure that 1995 is another successful season for Bermuda business.'' Ms Mello thanked the Bank of Bermuda Ltd and the department of Tourism as they are the two major sponsors of the event, and the Bank of Butterfield and the many retailers and restaurateurs for their continued support.
